Privacy Policy

We keep it
simple.

Exsura is a community nonprofit. We collect only what we need to serve you, we never sell your information, and we keep this policy plain enough to actually read. Last updated: January 2026.

Exsura is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Dallas-Fort Worth. This policy covers the website at exsura.org. It does not cover third-party sites we link to.

1. What we collect

We collect information only when you actively provide it to us. This happens in three ways:

Contact and inquiry forms

When you fill out a contact, volunteer, or partnership form on this site, we receive your name, email address, phone number (if provided), and the content of your message. We use this solely to respond to you.

Newsletter sign-up

If you subscribe to The Exsura Brief, we receive your email address. That's it. We use it to send you our monthly newsletter - typically one email on the first Tuesday of each month.

Donation processing

If you donate through this site, your payment is processed by a third-party provider (such as Stripe or PayPal). We receive confirmation that a donation was made and, if you opt in, your name and email for a receipt. We do not store full payment card information.

Automatic technical data

Like most websites, our hosting provider logs basic request data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time of visit. We use this in aggregate to understand how the site is used - not to identify individuals. We do not use behavioral tracking tools like Facebook Pixel or Google Analytics remarketing tags.

2. How we use it

We use the information we collect for one or more of these purposes:

  • To respond to your inquiry, question, or partnership request
  • To send you the newsletter you subscribed to
  • To process and acknowledge your donation
  • To coordinate volunteer scheduling and program communications
  • To improve the site based on aggregate usage patterns

We do not send marketing emails to people who have not subscribed. If you contact us about something and later want to receive our newsletter, we will ask you explicitly before adding you.

3. What we don't do

We do not sell your information. Ever. To anyone. We are a nonprofit - our mission is community service, not data monetization.

We do not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes. We may share information with service providers (email delivery, payment processing) strictly to operate the site - but only under agreements that prohibit them from using your data for their own purposes.

We do not build behavioral profiles. We do not track you across other websites. We do not use retargeting pixels or ad network tracking.

We do not retain data longer than necessary. Contact and inquiry records are kept for up to two years or until a relationship concludes. Newsletter subscriber data is kept until you unsubscribe.

4. Cookies

We use a small number of technical cookies to make the site work properly - for example, to remember your newsletter preference if you have already subscribed. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or any cookie that follows you beyond exsura.org.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Doing so will not meaningfully affect your ability to use this site - all content remains accessible.

5. Third-party links

Our resource pages and articles link to external organizations - mental health providers, shelters, hotlines, and community services. We link to them because we believe they are helpful; we do not control their websites or privacy practices. Please review each organization's privacy policy before submitting personal information to them.

6. Children under 13

This site is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have done so inadvertently, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe we may have information from or about a child under 13, please contact us at info@exsura.org.

7. Your rights

You have the right to know what information we hold about you, to correct it, and to request that we delete it. To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@exsura.org. We will respond within five business days.

If you subscribed to our newsletter, every email includes an unsubscribe link. One click removes you from all future mailings, permanently.

Texas law provides additional privacy rights for Texas residents. If you have questions about your rights under Texas law, contact us directly.

8. Questions

If you have questions about this policy, please reach out. We read everything.
